something fun has been going on here in the past year while my wealth has been in decline and especially since December when a 40-foot bar and a phone booth came down from the Southside... unlike many places that put in a few taps and hang a picture on the wall hoping to make an extra nickel the Sumo Shackers went a bit further and re-thinked the whole thing so it feels like good times in the greatest city.stopped in after work for a snack and a peak and was pleasantly surprised by the new look starting with the fancy flooring, a busy little pattern that contrasts nicely with the simple ceiling panels and sets off the richly grained wood slabs opposite the bar beneath tastefully large B&W prints. drink sconces for the fashionable or fashionably late are a bonus and there's a couple tables upfront if a person is inclined. it's just wow!sampled the bar and kitchen specials: kimchi fries are food for my soul - scallions, cheese and ko sauce on a mound of crisp fries as advertised with just enough cabbage to enhance the dish without overwhelming it - and a fancy glass of fruited red sangria because it's special too.

Restaurant has recently undergone a renovation and put in a beautiful old Chicago bar.  But the real stars here are the ooey gooey cheesesteaks. There are several different varieties and the loaded fries are also a must try.

Ordered the sumo Philly spicy. The flavor was amazing! They use premium ingredients and the flavor profile hits every taste bud. Sat at their bar where I had an amazing old fashioned. You get kinda of a speak easy meets upscale bar food. Highly recommend. I inhaled my food before I thought about taking a photo. Also the churros are a must have and are served with 3 different dipping sauces. Owners are very personable and you can tell they are doing what they love.
